The Beauty of Sussex: The Results of our Photo Competition

Last month, we ran a competition to find the best scenic shots of Sussex, and received some incredible entries. Here we reveal the top ten images from those that were submitted and announce our winner

10. The ripening of berries in late summer is complemented by the stunning backdrop of the South Downs. Taken in Wilmington. By Tania Bennett

9. Nature at its purest and simplest. A stunning shot of the rocks and a rock pool on Shoreham Beach. By Gary Dixon

8. This evening image of boats on Bognor seafront gives off a real, old-school Sussex vibe. By Keelie Ann Wasyliw

7. This beautiful shot of Tide Mills near Seaford has an other-worldy feel, combining a stunning sunset glow, intriguing cloud formations and calm water, capturing the beauty of the area perfectly. By Shelley Croydon

6. Many photographers capture some great shots of the Beachy Head Lighthouse from above, but we were taken with this image of the lighthouse up close and reflected in the rock pools at low tide. By Carole Gorman

5. The timing of this photo, captured at Newhaven Harbour, seemingly reveals a face in the waves, and creates a very clever image. By Steve Haffenden

4.A long exposure shot taken one evening at the Chichester Canal Basin, which lights up one of the nicest beauty spots in the city. By Brenda Melaniphy

3. This illuminated shot of Brighton’s old West Pier was taken on a warm evening using a long exposure. The illumination seemed to come from a building with flood lights on the promenade and gives a rather eerie look to the pier. By Catherine Fowler

2. This shot of Bateman’s, Rudyard Kipling’s famous 17th century country home in Burwash, was taken on a clear autumnal day, which created perfect conditions for the beautiful reflections in the moat. By Catherine Fowler

WINNER: This landscape photo of the Seven Sisters and Seaford Head from Birling Gap shows the white cliffs in all of their natural beauty. Congratulations to our winner, John Shipp, who receives a year’s subscription to Disney Plus.
