LVS Hassocks See The Future At South Downs Nurseries

Students from LVS Hassocks enjoyed an extra-curricular day out at South Downs Nurseries recently. The young adults were taken on a tour around the site by managers to help them learn more about the types of careers available. The family-run business in Hassocks was approached by Leanne Jarvis, a teacher at the school. The students met with employees from each department, including plants and pets & aquatics, to find out what it’s like to work in a garden centre.

Manager of the Brighton Road business, Steve Parsons said ‘We were only too happy to help these young people gain an insight of what goes on, both on the shop floor and behind the scenes, in a busy garden centre. It’s always daunting when any young person looks to leave school and join the working world, so it’s great to think we can play a part in helping a someone decide what they want to do when they take that step.’

LVS Hassocks is a residential school located in Sayers Common, providing a supported learning environment for children with communication, socialisation and imagination difficulties.
