Come And Enjoy A Paw-Some Afternoon Tea To Help Local Cats!

Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Centre will be hosting a Paw-some Afternoon Tea party for locals to enjoy a spread of tasty treats while helping cats in need. The centre, in Lewes Road, Chelwood Gate, will be holding the event from 12pm until 4pm on Friday 26 May.

Visitors will be able to enjoy behind-the-scenes tours of the National Cat Adoption Centre, the UK’s largest cat rehoming centre, in exchange for a small donation. There will also be activities for pre-schoolers, including face painting, a lucky dip and craft activities.

A tempting selection of cakes, tea and coffee will be available in the café from 2pm until 4pm with all proceeds going to help care for unwanted and abandoned cats.

Cats Protection’s Paw-some Afternoon Tea is part of a nationwide fundraiser which will see supporters holding events in homes, workplaces and schools across the UK. Dee McDonald, Manager of Cats Protection’s Visitor Centre said: “Our Paw-some Afternoon Tea is all about doing what cats do best – taking the time to enjoy the fun things in life!  We’ll be serving tea, coffee and all sorts of sweet treats, leaving our visitors free to enjoy a natter or simply unwind. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you’re a cat lover or a just fancy an excuse for a good cuppa and a slice of cake in a fun atmosphere. Cat lovers in particular will enjoy the tours of the adoption centre where they will get a glimpse of what goes on in one of the country’s busiest cat rehoming centres.”

Cats Protection’s National Cat Adoption Centre is currently caring for around 150 cats in need of homes, including 12-year-old Tabby, who came to the centre last month after her owner passed away. Tabby is a little shy but has a sweet and friendly personality and will make a lovely pet.

Anyone can hold their own Paw-some Afternoon Tea event on or around Friday 26 May from their own home or workplace to help raise money for cats in need. To obtain a free pack containing everything needed to make it a success, email www.pawsometea.org

Cats Protection’s National Cat Centre is the perfect day out for all the family all year round and is open every day from 10am-4pm.

As well as the nature trail, there is also a café, children’s play area and shop.
