The Search For Missing Books Goes On…
A Lewes church is asking for help in tracing some missing religious books. St Thomas à Becket parish church of the Cliffe has lost a number of large-print KJV Bibles and prayer books over the past few months. It’s hoping that they may come to light in the area.
“If any second-hand bookshop or charity shop is offered a large-print King James’ Bible or pew edition of the Book of Common Prayer, it could be that they are part of our missing stock”, says Churchwarden Trevor Butler. “The books were all stamped with the church name, so we are particularly interested if there’s any evidence of front-pieces or pages having been removed.”
The church says that whoever removed the books, totally six Bibles and three prayer books, is depriving those who need to use them for the regular weekday services. “We hold two services every single day of the week (and three on Thursdays), so the books are frequently used”, adds Trevor.
Anyone with any information on the missing books is asked to contact the church firstname.lastname@example.org
