Eye Examination

At sight and sound we advise that an eye examination is an important part of your health care.

Every patient is given a full eye examination, which takes at least half an hour. The opticians recommendations will be discussed during your appointment and with the dispensing optician.

Regular eye examinations are vital to check the health of your eyes and to keep your prescription up to date. Conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal detachments can be picked up during your eye examination. We will liaise with a patients doctor when necessary.

We accept private and NHS patients at Sight & Sound. A private sight test is currently £30.00. NHS patients are those under 16, over 60s or in full time education. NHS optical vouchers are available depending on age, health or income. If you are eligible the a voucher can be obtained from Sight & Sound.

Please call us on 01243 823144 to book your appointment.

Hearing Test

Having an issue with your hearing can be very isolating. Today’s hearing devices can be as discreet as you want them to be. The latest technology will also give you everything you need to stay connected to the world around you.

Your first Hearing Assessment is important and includes a discussion on your concerns, a full medical history of your symptoms, a visual examination of the internal and external structure of your ears (otoscopy) we then perform a hearing test (audiometry) which is recorded on a chart called an audiogram. The audiologist will then discuss your results and any further concerns you have.

We then offer impartial hearing care advice specific to you and explain how a hearing device could improve your hearing, should this be necessary. This can include a demonstration, and we will also liaise with your GP if required. The full hearing assessment is carried out by a fully qualified and registered audiologist and your initial consultation and demonstration is free of charge and without obligation.

Call us on 01243 823144 to book your FREE hearing assessment.

The team is complemented by highly effective reception and administration staff.
