Explore the art and craft of the theatre clown in this 10-week course at Brighton's Theatre Royal

More Information (Sussex Living is not responsible for external websites)

A rare opportunity to work with master clown Chris Cresswell in an exploration of the art and practice of the theatre clown.

Inspired by the teachings of Jacques Lecoq, this 10 session course will encourage you to unleash the creative possibilities within clown work. The aim is to help you find that magical place where everything is possible, where the mind, heart and body integrate into the authentic simplicity of the theatre clown.

Aimed at actors, theatre-makers, musicians, dancers and circus performers who would like to research and develop skills in theatrical clowning, the course will help you discover and develop your own clown persona, understand timing, technique and performance of this fascinating art form. You'll develop confidence and trust in your impulses so that you bring the joy of laughter to your audiences. There will be the opportunity to perform live on stage at Theatre Royal Brighton.

Chris has trained and performed with leading circus and theatre companies including Ra Ra Zoo,
John Mowat, Nola Rae, Theatre de Complicite, Commotion Theatre company and DNA animation theatre. He is currently an Associate Lecturer at Chichester University leading the clown mask module.

Course fee payable in advance only. Session dates: Wednesdays 10am - 11.30am 5, 12, 26 Feb; 5, 12, 19, 26 Mar; 2, 16, 23 April
