Recycling Collections Seven Days A Week In Brighton In Major Change

In a major change to recycling rounds in the city, Brighton & Hove City Council is now collecting 7 days a week.

From this month, communal mixed recycling bins are being emptied on weekends as well as Monday to Friday.

Collections every day will mean less rubbish left at the side of bins, making for cleaner streets and a more pleasant environment for residents and visitors.

Together with the addition of 54 more recycling bins for food and drink cartons and 21 new small electrical recycling containers in April, the council is making it easier than ever before for residents to recycle.

Councillor Tim Rowkins, Cabinet Member for Net Zero and Environmental Services said:

“One of our biggest priorities has been to improve waste and recycling collections and this will certainly help do that.

“Collections 7 days a week will mean less recycling piling up, being left next to bins, or spilling out onto streets and pavements which we know makes the city look dirty and untidy.

“More recycling bins and more frequent collections creates extra capacity inside the bins and make it easier for residents to recycle while improving the look and feel of Brighton & Hove.”
