Speedy Recovery For Your Injured Dog

Advertising Feature: If your dog has been injured or had surgery, using hydrotherapy can help speed up the recovery process and rehabilitation with much less risk of causing further injury

Marli had a hip operation to remove part of the joint, after a suspected injury. It had been badly damaged when he was on the streets. The operation was performed to improve his mobility and reduce pain. When his rehabilitation started at Woozelbears he was not walking on the injured leg. The first sessions were in the hydrotherapy pool, wearing a head band as he doesn't like water in his ears, to encourage movement of the limb.

After a few weeks in the hydrotherapy pool, to encourage movement and improve weight bearing, he took his first faltering steps in the aquatic treadmill. Walking against the resistance of the water made him work harder than he would on land, but without the risk of falling and without the impact on his joints. He will build muscle and return to fuller function more quickly with a rehabilitation programme.
