Enjoy World Class Luxury In Cannes
Nigel and Denise James visit the Le Majestic Hotel in the South of France...
After reading so many brilliant reviews about the world famous Hotel Barriere on the French Riviera, it just had to be visited to understand why the guests view Le Majestic as one of the best places to stay in the world.
This very beautiful, luxurious, elegant and charming palace is located on La Croisette facing the sea and the home of the Cannes film festival, the Palais des Festivals.
The stunning luxury hotel has 265 rooms and 84 suites including two stunning penthouses overlooking the sea. Just to give you a taste of absolute luxury, the penthouse on the seventh floor includes a solarium and its own private swimming pool!
Checking in to the beautiful Majestic is a real pleasure. Guests here are made to feel very special in a unique and subtle way, a treatment that shows that what we are about to receive is going to be special, very special.
We were taken to our room overlooking the flat calm beautifully blue sea. The room was plush with every home comfort you could imagine.
After reading the great reviews and generally reading up the loads of information available, the room was every bit as impressive as we were expecting and lead to believe. It just looked and felt that real quality was the order of the day.
It’s easy to see why so many world famous stars love this hotel and make it their choice when visiting the annual Cannes Film Festival.
The Majestic even has its own luxury private beach with a pier where you can partake in a wide variety of water sports and enjoy lunch overlooking the sea in the private beach restaurant, the Fouquet’s Cannes, is a grand French brasserie and La Petite Maison de Nicole, famous for its typical Provencal cuisine and home-like atmosphere provides gourmet fare.
We were quick to sample the lovely hotel heated outside pool as the temperature was now approaching 30 degrees and with a cloudless sky this was just too tempting to ignore.
We were met by Lionel, a smartly dressed member of the pool team who gave us a guided tour of the
pool facilities that included a beautiful bar area situated in a gorgeous well designed planted environment.
The pool was comfortably warm, spacious and not too busy as it would have been a few weeks past in the busy August season.
The Majestic is famous for its location not only for the close proximity to the Cannes Film Festival but for the myriad of beautiful (and expensive) designer shops close by with all the big names one would associate with the stars that frequent this lovely place in the south of France.
Restaurants are abundant too with an incredible choice from traditional French to Italian, Chinese and Indian. Not that you would wish to miss the Croisette’s own famous Fouquet’s restaurant situated in the hotel in an ambience which combines contemporary and traditional touches.
The décor of this superb restaurant was created by Alexandre Danan and brings together an interesting blend of carefully chosen materials and flavours with warm tones of walnut and mahogany wood.
There’s a very interesting wine cellar made from glass and metal. All this provides a charming backdrop for the elegant recipes of modern brasserie inspired cuisine created by Michelin starred chef Pierre Gagnaire.
The Majestic is certainly living up to its five star rating and whilst most hotels of this quality have a modern spa, the Diane Barriere spa has teamed up with a new partner, Bioloique Recherche a company renowned for its long established scientific expertise in body, face and hair treatments based around strict protocols.
It’s evident that all staff at the Majestic fully understand the requirements of five star training and there’s a good reason why they all have to be constantly on their toes – the history of Group Lucien Barriere is closely linked to the family’s own history who built up the group from scratch in barely three generations.
The group Lucien Barriere now runs 17 hotels and is one of the top luxury hotel chains in France. The
group is also the leading Gaming operator and runs 39 casinos including the impressive prestigious casinos at Deauville and Enghien-les-Bains and Biarritz.
With this legendary heritage no wonder staff and managers alike will go the extra mile to ensure guests all have a consistent and absolute first class service.
The Hotel Le Majestic Cannes was founded during the prosperous Roaring Twenties and flourished over two decades to become what it is today, one of the most sparkling jewels on the French Riviera. It boasts a seat of honour on the legendary Croisette Boulevard in Cannes, close to the Palais des Festivals.
Our room overlooked the sea with stunning views of the Lerins islands that can easily be visited by boat but before we ventured out there, much closer and on our list to visit, was something just a short walk from our room.
The Spa Diane Barriere is a modern fitness and sensory area offering gym classes or personal training sessions as well as Zumba, spinning, aqua bikes and relaxation experiences in the sensory
area. This whole fabulous experience could easily take a half day.
After four days of real luxury in the sun, we left with the memory and experience of absolute five star service in what must be one of the best quality hotels in the south of France.
Talk about luxury and you’ll talk about the Majestic.
